Professional Development -
Unplanned Pregnancy Issues
Children by Choice
regularly deliver training workshops for counsellors, health, allied
health and welfare professionals and tertiary students. Our Unplanned Pregnancy
Options Training Workshops are
facilitated by tertiary-trained, experienced counsellors and trainers who provide
participants with up-to-date and accurate information on all unplanned
pregnancy options including abortion, adoption, and parenting. Throughout the workshops, several topic areas are covered, such as:
- causes of and barriers around an unplanned pregnancy,
- values clarification around abortion, adoption and parenting,
- working with partners and parents,
- the adoption process,
- abortion law and practicalities of access, and
- examination of case studies.
Our workshops enable participants to further develop their
information giving and counselling skills to assist women’s
decision-making around an unplanned pregnancy.
Children by Choice
can also design and deliver training courses to suit your organisation’s professional development needs. Please contact our
Education and Training Coordinator for more information
or to inquire about training with us.
Upcoming Unplanned Pregnancy Options Training:
- Mareeba, Tuesday 6th September, full day

- Thursday Island, 26-29th September,

Please contact our
Education and Training Coordinator with expressions of interest or

Children by Choice work with FPQ as a presenter for their registered
training courses. A joint training initiative for school based
youth health nurses was undertaken in 2007. We also present at
conferences and seminars, and contribute to specialist publications,
such as the
O&G magazine.
