Financial Aid For Pregnancy

How we can help

If you are facing financial hardship, Children by Choice may be able to help cover the cost of your termination of pregnancy.

Our financial aid programme provides support to ensure that cost is not a barrier to safe, legal and appropriate abortion care in Queensland.

Assistance may include procedure costs, travel, accommodation, childcare, or contraception after your procedure.

Am I eligible for financial aid?

You may be able to receive financial help if you meet all of the following:

You live in Queensland or are temporarily staying here.
You do not have enough funds to cover abortion-related costs.
You have already explored public funding options such as Medicare or travel subsidies, but are not eligible or have already used them.
You have a referral from 13HEALTH, a healthcare provider, or you have referred yourself.

Your request meets Queensland laws and medical standards for abortion care.

What costs can be covered

Financial aid may help with:

Termination of pregnancy (medical or surgical)
Travel costs such as fuel, bus, train or flights
Accommodation if you need to stay overnight
Childcare or dependent care during your procedure
Long-acting reversible contraception (LARC) after your procedure

Other essential care related to your procedure, such as ultrasounds, medications or travel for a support person

What costs are not covered

Funding cannot be used for:

Services already funded by Queensland Health, Medicare, Centrelink, or other public programmes
Choosing one type of procedure over another when both are available in the public system
Services provided by unqualified or unregistered providers
Counselling from psychologists, psychiatrists, or alcohol and drug counsellors (these are funded separately)
