Withdrawal Method

SUMMARY

Also called “pulling out” or “the pull-out method”. Withdrawal means the penis is taken out of the vagina before ejaculation (cumming). It doesn’t involve any devices or prescriptions.

Less effective than most other contraception methods because pre-ejaculation fluid can contain sperm.

Doesn’t require prescriptions, devices, or medical visits.
Can be used alongside other methods like condoms or hormonal contraception for extra protection.

Things to keep in mind

There’s still a chance of pregnancy even if the penis is pulled out in time, because pre-ejaculation fluid can carry sperm.
You might need emergency contraception as a backup.
Relies completely on the person with the penis being able to control and time withdrawal correctly.
Doesn’t protect against STIs.

This method relies fully on the person with the penis. They have full control over whether and how it’s used.

Could someone tamper with it?

Yes. It may not be safe for people who don’t have control over if, when, or how sex happens.
